Seeds of Hope: family activity trail booklet

A commission for CultureDale to create an activity booklet for a trail exploring the mini show gardens created by 10 community groups across Calderdale as part of the Seeds of Hope community gardening festival at Shibden Park, Halifax.

I created a narrative to carry the reader through the booklet, “an adventure in the garden”, with activities to complete along the way, stamps to collect and a “Garden Explorer” badge to earn after finishing the trail. The booklet features a trail map, and double-page spreads for each garden with illustrations, information and fun activities to encourage children to engage with Nature and learn how to create their own garden.

The community groups involved were: The Brunswick Centre, Everybody Arts, Friends of Shibden Park, Friends of Todmorden Railway Station, Halifax Academy, Healthy Minds, Incredible Edible Todmorden, The Outback Community Garden and Kitchen, The Paddock and St Augustine’s Centre. They all created a beautiful show garden for us to explore at Shibden Park!
