Agroforestry systems in São Bento do Sapucaí, Brazil.

Regeneratus Agroforestry.

Whilst living in a small rural town in the Mantiqueira mountains in Brazil, I worked with Regeneratus. This is a small business, run by my friends Felipe and Amanda, preparing soil and planting agroforestry systems. I helped design their system, choose species, considering strata and plant requirements. We then prepared the land together, ready for planting, and I created a poster on the principles of agroforestry to communicate their work.

At the end of my stay, they invited me to help with the “plantio”, the big plant, which we’d been preparing for. They wanted to invite each guest at their wedding (yes, really!) to plant a tree in their agroforest. So, we did a presentation to explain the project, using my poster, and guided the guests to plant young saplings that will soon grow into a flourishing food forest.

It was a privilege to be involved with this project, learn more about agroforestry with Amanda and Fe and play a part in celebrating them 💚
