A6 Greetings Card - The Curupira

£3.00
A6 greetings card of illustration in fine liner and watercolour by Melissa Davie.

The Curupira, 2024
“O bosque não se vende, se ama e se defende”
“The forest is not for sale, it is to be loved and protected”, translated from Portuguese.

This is the Curupira. He is the forest guardian from Brazilian Folklore who protects Nature from harm.

His name is derived from the native Tupi-Guarani language“kuru’pir”, which means “covered in blisters”, because of his fiery and mysterious ways. His bright red hair bursts into flames when he is angry, and he has backwards-facing feet, leaving footprints to fool those he chases. He reminds those who dare to enter the rainforest to beware of their intentions!
